STAFFORDSHIRE BULL TERRIER RESCUE
The truth about Rescue is that people who care about the breed give their time and often their money too, to look after these poor unwanted and frequently ill treated dogs.
There are no special kennels funded by government, to look after the results of over breeding, or badly chosen homes until new ones can be found.
Breed club committees are unpaid as are those who are assist in breed rescue. People become involved for love of the Staffordshire Bull Terrier alone. Members of most committees try to help volunteers search for forever homes for these unfortunate Staffords, not all of them find one. Not everyone wants a challenging, untrained 4 year old or an abandoned 10 year old Stafford, cuties go first.
The kennel costs are often paid for by the helpers themselves to extend the chances of getting a dog rehomed... Many run out of time!
So if you are thinking about breeding from your pet. Think again! Are you prepared to vet the homes they are going to, do the prospective owners have experience in dog care. Have you thought what will happen if you do not find homes for all the pups. OR..Would you like to have your beautiful puppies beaten, starved, neglected or thrown out when they turn out to need more work and care than the new owner thought necessary, after all the time and trouble you took to rear them.
Staffords don't do well in kennels, they get stressed, they are people dogs and naturally prefer a loving hand to stroke their velvet ears, and preferably the sofa or your bed to sleep on. We have so many to rescue these days. Think of taking a rescued Staffie, they will love you for it.
